Paul was born to the late Albert Kevorkian and the late Alice Arslanian Kevorkian on November 28, 1930 in Los Angeles, California. He lived and worked in the Los Angeles area for 88 years. Paul was the youngest of five children and shared a strong Armenian heritage with his parents and siblings. He attended Los Angeles College and Pasadena Nazarene College. During the Korean War, Paul served in the navy.
Paul met the love of his life, Kathy, in the youth choir at the Church of the Open Door in Los Angeles. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on August 31, 2021. Paul worked as a senior clerk typist for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and retired in 1985. He served as part-time church choir director in several churches in the Southern California area for many years. A gifted musician, Paul enjoyed playing the piano and singing solos at church and singing the national anthem at ball games.
Paul loved the Lord, his family, and the many people who crossed his path. He never met a stranger. It was rare for him to go to a restaurant or visit a church and not run into someone he knew. For over fifty years, Paul made many friends while umpiring Little League and girls’ softball; refereeing high school football, basketball, and volleyball; and refereeing church leagues.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Kathleen “Kathy” Liddell Kevorkian; daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Kevorkian Stewart (Jeff); granddaughter, Joy Elizabeth Raaen (Brian); four great-grandchildren, Autumn, Christopher, Kristiania, and Brian Thomas; sister, Gladys Kevorkian Klinepeter; and other extended family members who will cherish his memory. Paul was preceded in death by his sister, Kathryn Dreibelbis; his brother, George Kevorkian; and his brother Bob Kevorkian.
