

Peter proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he earned a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement and went on to serve with the Massachusetts State Police Mounted Unit, retiring with the rank of Sergeant after a distinguished career.
A skilled craftsman, Peter also attended Wentworth Institute of Technology and spent much of his free time working in carpentry and serving as a building supervisor. He was known for his strong work ethic, dedication to family, and willingness to help others with his many talents. Upon his retirement in Massachusetts, he and his wife moved to Georgia to enjoy the warmer weather with family.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents, George and Althea Poehler.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Karen Poehler; his sons, David (Stacey) Poehler and their daughters Sophie, Lauren, and Reagan and Daniel (Jessica) Poehler and their daughters Jillian and Jolie. He is also survived by his sisters, Chris (Michael) Bagdanovich, Jean Poehler, and Meredith (Tom) Dunbar, along with his niece Jessica and nephew Ian and their families, and many dear friends including Dr. Paul Di Stefano, his wife the late Mary Ann Di Stefano, Peter Di Stefano and Michelle Boyd and their families, Rick and Robyn Wolter and Patricia & Dennis McGuire.
Peter will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and always remembered for his kindness, generosity, humor and strength.
Services will be held on Monday June 22nd at 10:30am at the
Resurrection Anglican Church in Woodstock, Georgia. Interment with military honors will be the same day at 2:30pm at Georgia National Cemetery.
