

Philip James Fischer died on Friday, August 29, 2025 in Marietta, Georgia. He was born on September 24, 1957 in Cincinnati, Ohio at Good Samaritan Hospital. He died after a long hard battle of lung disease. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alphonse David Fischer (father), Elizabeth Mengel Kelley (mother) and his brothers Charles Fischer and John Fischer. He retired from Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in March 2024 after working as a Respiratory Therapist in the bronch lab for almost 30 years. Phil was married to his wife Jill Fischer for 18 years. He loved spending time with his children, Philip Fischer Jr (Victoria), Michael Harper (Mary Catherine), Rebecca Mistretta (Mike), Matthew Hott (Katy) and Amanda Chaskey (Nate). His most special time was spent with his grandchildren, Parker Hott, Ronnie Harper, Ashton Hott, Eddie Harper, Adalie Mistretta, Ellie Chaskey, Luci Harper, Josie Mistretta, Maggie Chaskey and soon to be born Chase Mistretta. He is survived by his sister’s Sue Canale and Libby Gergely.
In his retirement he collected sports memorabilia and was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Atlanta Braves. He loved music, in particular, Pink Floyd, Eagles, Beatles and Frank Sinatra. He loved classic cars and classic movies.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Resurrection Anglican Church, 231 Arnold Mill Road, Woodstock, GA 30188.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the American Lung Association in his memory
