Ralph William Logan was born on May 14, 1935 in Falls Church, Virginia and died April 15, 2012 in Atlanta, Georgia. He lived with parents Glenn Logan and Ruth Winfield Logan and sister Pat in the Northern Virginia area throughout his childhood years. He accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of twelve and was active in the First Baptist Church of Clarendon. It was during those years he developed his musical talents and began using them in service to the Lord. In his early twenties he committed his life to full time Christian service and pursued his education for that purpose. He is a graduate of Bluefield Baptist College, Carson Newman University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was ordained for the gospel ministry in 1960.
For the next forty years he served Southern Baptist Churches in Texas and Virginia as Minister of Music. During the last eleven years before retirement he also worked for the Department of the Navy in Washington DC and served as music minister in churches part time.
He moved to Georgia in 1999 and enjoyed his retirement doing volunteer work for the Fellowship of Christian Athletics, Meals on Wheels, and as a volunteer for Northside Cherokee Hospital. He was also active in the First Baptist Church of Woodstock, particularly in the areas of the music program and Sunday School.
Additionally, Ralph was an avid sports fan, remaining faithful to the Washington Redskins where he played in the Redskin Band as a teenager, and the Atlanta Braves. He was equally enthusiastic for any and all sports played by his fifteen grandchildren or any musical and acting talents displayed by them! Anyone who knew him could tell you that!!
Ralph is survived by his wife, Wanda, three children, Bill Logan, Cathy Logan Steger and husband Gary and Janet Logan Selleck and husband Mark, two step-children, Diane Hill and husband Kyle, and Carol McBay and husband Rob. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, sister Pat Logan Apperson and husband Irvin plus nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.
