Richard was born on June 14, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY to Warren and Marguerite (Stevens) Eller. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree From Haverford in 1952. He enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged as a Second Lieutenant. Richard received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Temple University Medical School in 1959, and began his 50+ years career as an Anesthesiologist. He felt his greatest achievement professionally was his volunteer work in other countries with the Interplast organization.
Richard was an avid sailor throughout his life. He was known for his beautiful and distinct bass voice, and was in numerous local Little Theatre productions. He sang the National Anthem for the WVU Men’s Basketball game. He was active in the community and was a life-long member of Rotary. He and his wife enjoyed sailing trips with friends, playing bridge, and traveling abroad.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara. He is survived by their children: Linda, Jennifer (Francis) McRory, and Warren (Elena); their grandchildren: Daniel McRory, Andrew (Bianca) McRory, Evelyn (Kyle) McReynolds, and Jillian Eller; and their great-grandchildren: Olivia McRory, and Richard McReynolds.
