hi bern. so sorry 4 ur loss. me an rich had alot of  fun working together. we were good friends. this is joe russo  a long time worked together. i missed him when he retired .i,m sure u all miss him. my brother is jim russo worked at board 4 50 years.hope u rember us a little. again very sorry someday we will all meet in heaven.

I am so sorry for your loss, i knew Debbie as a teen, & worked w/ Richard. I know he was a nice man & fought very hard for life.My condolences to your family.

I am so deeply sorry to learn of the passing of my dear old friend, Richie Haas. We became inseparable friends in 1st grade, spending time together at both our homes after school, selling soft pretzels along Kensington Avenue in the summer, always laughing and having a good time. We remained close up til the time that Jr.High separated us - but always stayed in touch. I was lucky enough to catch up with him a few times before the move to Georgia. Rich and I worked together for many years and, I can truly say he was a great friend, co-worker, innovator and a pleasure to be with, in or out of the office. I an so sorry to hear of Richard's passing.  We started at the same time as Civil Service employees, although Richard was there prior to that when he worked for the school board.  Such a smart , quiet presence.  He was also briefly my neighbor when he lived on Herbert Street..  We will all miss him.

Bernie and all of Richard's family:  Having worked with Rich closely for more than twenty years, I can attest to the fact that he was the best of us. He was an expert on tax abatements, appeals and so many other facets of our BRT work life. However, he was an expert on living a good and decent life as well which was so much more important. Great humor and great fun to be with.  Always ready with a smile or a wisecrack. He will be sorely missed.

Bernie, my condolences to you and the family on the passing of Richard. I was very sorry to hear about this. We at BRT/OPA know Richard couldn't wait to retire and move away and I remember how he was counting his days until retirement.

He was always very helpful and did his job with a great deal of pride and yet had a wonderful sense of humor.I enjoyed our interactions and his knowledge of his work and his hobbies.

Flash and I saw Richard's obituary in the Inquirer last night.  We are so very sorry that he suffered for so long but are sure that you were always by his side, giving him some peace during his struggle.  Above all, Bern, it was obvious to us that he truly loved you, as well as his children.
We hope that your many, many good memories of your time together will help carry you through whatever lies ahead.
I don't know what to say to you except that Richard, your family, and especially you, will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Last night we shared funny stories about times that we shared with you and Richard.  I hope you dont find that offensive, but we think that that is how Richard would want us to remember him. 
As you said, we know that Ian was there in heaven waiting to greet him. There is a certain amount of peace in that.
