

Mr. Samuel Biondolillo of Canton, Georgia passed away June 16, 2016. He was born on February 3, 1924, in Mt. Morris, NY to the late Samuel and Ida Biondolillo. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School and attended Geneseo State University of NY. He played basketball four years for Mt. Morris High School, Geneseo State University of NY, one year for the submarine base in New London and the American Thermos Co. team in Norwich, CT. Sam joined the U.S. Navy during WWII and served in the submarine service on the USS S-48. While stationed at Groton, CT he met and married Mildred Helen Mulcahy of Norwich, CT with whom he celebrated 70 years of marriage. After being discharged from the U.S. Navy, Sam remained in Norwich, CT and was employed at the American Thermos Co. Shortly thereafter, he was hired as General Forman by Dow Chemical Co. in Gales Ferry, CT, at the Allen’s Point Plant. In 1964 he was promoted to International Marine Manager for Dow Chemical. During his career they lived in Norwich, CT, Midland, MI and Houston, TX. Upon retirement, they relocated to Beverly Hills, FL, and have spent the past eleven years in Canton, GA. He was a loving and devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, dancing, traveling, watching sports, taking cruises and spending time at the ocean with family and friends. Sam was an avid golfer and while in Florida, he was invited by a club professional to compete in Florida’s Club Pro/Amateur golf tournament which they won in Ft. Lauderdale. Sam was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and participated in the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Elks Club, Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Samuel was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Nathan. He is survived by sons, Jim Biondolillo (Michele) and David Biondolillo (Joyce), daughter Donna Shepherd (Douglas), sister Marianne, two brothers Andrew and Tom, five grandchildren, Brian, Dawn, John, Andy and Nic, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. A funeral service will be on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at Georgia National Cemetery.
