

Sarah “Betty” Elizabeth DeLoach Nichols, 81, of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025 with her son and daughter at her bedside. Born on May 12, 1944, in Sheldon, SC, Betty lived a life marked by deep love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith.
On February 26, 1960, Betty married the love of her life, Nick. Together they shared fourteen years as a proud military family until he was killed in action in 1975. A dedicated and hardworking woman, Betty spent more than two decades in the dry-cleaning industry, where her strong work ethic, warm spirit, and bright smile touched many.
Betty found joy in life’s simple pleasures—shopping, going out to eat, watching movies, savoring McDonald’s frappes, and, most of all, spending time with her family and grandchildren. In her later years, she could often be found working through crossword puzzles and word searches while watching her favorite soap opera and The Waltons, or relaxing with a good book.
Despite enduring the lasting effects of multiple strokes and battling kidney and heart failure for many years, Betty faced every challenge with courage, determination, and resiliency. Her strength, faith, and love for her family remained steadfast to the very end.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Franklin DeLoach and Helen Ruth Keefe DeLoach of Sheldon, SC; husband, Willis “Nick” Jack Nichols of Hebron, IL; son, Daniel Patrick Nichols of Beaufort, SC; brother, Benjamin Franklin DeLoach, Jr. of Sheldon, SC; and sisters, Myra Montera of San Diego, CA, and Ginny Mast of Savannah, GA.
She is survived by her sister, Fran Morningstar of Woodstock, GA; children, Chris (Amy) Nichols of Marietta, GA, and Donna Nichols of Woodstock, GA; grandchildren, Elizabeth Rupert of San Francisco, CA, Daniel (Kat) Nichols of San Diego, CA, and Makayla and Abigail Nichols of Marietta, GA; and great-grandchildren Addison and Xander Rupert of San Francisco, CA. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 7, 2026 at 2pm with Poole Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations towards the service and cremation. will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.
