So sorry to hear of Jeffs passing.  Regretting that I didn't keep in touch like I should have.  I rode motorcycles with him as part of the Blue Knights and sometimes just the two of us. He was one of my heroes.  I considered him a close friend and I kept up with him until what I thought was recently.  When I called him, he seemed like his normal grumpy self. He always wanted to meet up at the Italian place in Woodstock. Wish I would have now.  Truly a great guy and he will be missed a lot!!I loved his stories and we had St Simons Island in common so when I visit which is often he would ask me questions about my visit. There is so much I want to or could say but it would never fit into this “box”.  Thank you for truly being the best father I could hope for.  When I was younger, I remember how you used to bring home old military tents and MREs and flashlights and I just thought that was the coolest freaking thing in the world. Going to the gun range with you and collecting targets and casings, another thing I thought was just so cool. How you introduced me to golf, letting me drive the cart at Follow Me Golf Club at first on the weekends….then swing an old persimmon or iron here or there until I could play by myself with anything. No matter what I did, you never gave up on me.  You helped me become the man, dad I am today. You loved your grandchildren so much who could turn a steely eyed old War Vet into a giant softie as soon as they came in the room. You made each one feel special in their own way and our Adlee,  being the only girl, was no exception.  You were absolutely the Best Pop Pop, Dad and I’ll be forever grateful for your unwavering love for all your kids.  I’m so thankful I got and get to call you my dad.  Thank you for ALL you did.  You will be truly missed but never forgotten.

Thank you for loving our boys so well. You traveled all over to watch Hudson play baseball & wanted to know every play of the game if you couldn’t be there. You would call me the minute the game was over for the full re cap. You gave him money for straight A’s and spoiled him rotten for his birthday & Christmas. You bragged on him to anyone who would listen. Then along came Max who had you wrapped ENTIRELY around his finger. The littlest Lear who could do no wrong. He could convince you to open 1,000 3 musketeers candy bars, climb up and down in your lap and drive your scooter all over the ball fields & pool while blaring the horn. You truly are the Best Pop Pop and I’ll be eternally grateful for your fierce, unwavering, & unconditional love.

I got to know Jeff through the Liberty Jump Team. Jeff was a great team member and took me under his wing on events in Normandy and Fort Benning, GA. Jeff was a soldier through and through, and as a young officer I learned much from him. He knew how to have fun!
