Shirley Lee Walters… a wife, mother, a ‘Grammie’ and ‘Great Grammie’ left her legacy behind to be with Jesus on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. Shirley was born December 6, 1929, to William and Katherine Alley in Rose Hill, Kansas.
Shirley, who was so devoted to her family, is survived by her loving husband, Jack. She is also survived by (3) daughters; Linda Drake, Sharon Snyder, and Lori Kizer, as well as a son, Ted Walters.
Shirley had (2) grandsons; Jason Breisch and Justin Snyder, (6) granddaughters; Jaime Prestwood, Erin Schmitt, Jennifer Stern, Megin Mannheimer, Laurin Stevens, and Ashtin Nall, (22) great-grandchildren, (5) brothers; Billy Alley, Donnie Alley, and Marion Alley, Mark Alley, and Gary Alley (3) sisters; Elaine Kohner and Sondra Drake, and Wilma Austin. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
After becoming a registered nurse, Shirley had a very successful career, considering it an honor to care for people during their most difficult times.
Shirley’s passions were two-fold: her family and their achievements/accomplishments, as well as her commitment and service to God. Her church family was very special to her.
Proverbs 31 describes Shirley in all aspects of her life, from wisdom to faithful instruction. Many women do noble things, but she surpassed them all. Shirley was truly a great role model, and her impact will be forever felt by her family, who love her dearly.
