Stephen Courtney Wooten, 63, passed away on July 19, 2025, in Swannanoa, North Carolina. Born on August 28, 1961, in Warner Robins, Georgia, Stephen lived a life marked by service, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for history and storytelling.
Stephen began his journey of service early in life when he joined the United States Air Force in 1979. Though his time in the military was cut short due to medical reasons, he was honorably discharged and carried with him a lasting sense of duty and resilience.
Education played an important role in Stephen’s life. He earned a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences from Kansas State University and later pursued a nursing degree at Baker University. His academic pursuits reflected his wide-ranging interests and his commitment to helping others. Stephen had a lifelong passion for collecting. He was an avid collector of coins, comic books, and baseball cards—each item representing a piece of history or imagination that fascinated him. His collections were not only hobbies but also windows into the stories and eras he cherished.
He is survived by his sister, Ingrid Wooten, and his brother, Terry Wooten. Their shared memories stand as enduring testaments to the bonds they held throughout their lives. May Stephens’ memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a reminder of a life lived with quiet dedication and thoughtful curiosity.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on August 16, 2025, from 02:00 PM to 04:00 PM at Woodstock Funeral Home 8855 Main St, Woodstock, Ga 30188.
