

Stevan C. Smarr, 62, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. He was at home surrounded by his loving family. Steve was born on December 27, 1955 in Madison, West Virginia the only child of Conscio C. and Anita (Perdue) Smarr. Steve married Kathy (Chafin) Smarr on December 9, 1983. They were united in marriage for 34 years. Steve and Kathy have two children, Zachary and Taylor.
Steve graduated from Scott High School in Madison in 1974. He continued his education at West Virginia University with a B.S. in Education and a Masters in Labor Relations. He went on to get his Juris Doctorate at Woodrow Wilson School of Law in Atlanta, Georgia. Steve has been a member of the Georgia Bar Association since 1991. He established his own law practice, Stevan C. Smarr and Associates, LLC Law Firm, where he practiced real estate law for 27 years.
Steve cherished his family and treasured spending time with them at home and on vacations to Amelia Island. You could find Steve every Saturday in the fall cheering on his Mountaineers. However, he refused to wear any West Virginia team gear on game day as that was a superstition he embraced. Steve was a huge history buff and was quick to provide facts and dates about history, but especially about World War II. Steve was very passionate about music. He enjoyed playing the keyboard and harmonica, but his love was the guitar.
Steve is preceded in death by his father, Conscio C. Smarr in 2012. He is survived by his loving wife and caregiver, Kathy Smarr of Marietta, Georgia, son, Zachary and daughter, Taylor, both of Marietta, Georgia. Mother, Anita (Perdue) of Madison, West Virginia. In laws, Ernest and Jerry Chafin of Madison, WV. Three brothers in law, Kim Chafin (Belinda) of Madison, WV, Mark Chafin (Becky) of Forest, VA, and Randy Chafin (Robin) of Madison, WV. Nieces and nephews, Cristen, Jared, Amber, Cameron, Noelle and Sterling. One great niece, Macie.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at 11:00AM at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church Chapel, 955 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta, Georgia 30068. The family will greet family and friends at a reception immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.
