

Mrs. Susan Leigh Chamalis, 65, of Atlanta, GA passed away in her youngest daughters arms surrounded by her family and friends on Friday August 8, 2014 at 1:57 PM EST. Susan was born on September 2, 1948 in Kansas City, MO to the late Robert and Joanne Genovese-Hanover (of Sicilian and Greek decent). Susan was a free spirit and left home at 16, she moved to San Francisco California where she attended University of California, Berkley. Susan started her career as a registered nurse, and then became a computer scientist. She worked for the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Defense. She was a brilliant woman with many talents that including acting, dancing, songwriting, singing, painting, illustrating, jewelry making, designing, teaching, cooking and designing clothing and hats. Susan had a passion for writing. Susan enjoyed writing short stories, mysteries and romance novels. She wrote and published a book with her youngest daughter called "For the Love of Cyprus" and was working on a southern gothic paranormal trilogy with her youngest daughter. Her stories were fiction based on truth. Susan leaves behind her husband of over 40 years, Andreas Stavros Chamalis of Famagusta, Cyprus, sister, Shirley Jean Haworth of Springfield, MO and 7 brothers. Her beloved friends that Susan thought of as her own children Amy Smith of Suwannee, Ga and Micah Bartlett of Marietta, Ga, eldest daughter, Elizabeth Valencia and her husband Gustavo Valencia of Clearwater, Fl, youngest daughter/caregiver to the bitter sweet end, Stormie Bleu Haworth aka (Khloe) Chamalis of Atlanta, Ga and son, Everett Stephen Chamalis and his wife of Clearwater, Fl and four beautiful grandchildren, Cielo Anna Maria Valencia, Gustavo JuanCarlos Valencia, Kristina Margarita Valencia, Andreas Jonathan Chamalis and great-grandson, Mikey Bosse.
A celebration of Susan's life will be Sunday, August 17, 2014 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main St Woodstock,Ga.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
