

Mr. Thomas Mallard Bacon, 82, of Woodstock, GA passed away May 18, 2014. He was born on September 14, 1931 in Riceboro, GA to the late Elizabeth P. Harrell and William Augustus Bacon. After his graduation from the Bradwell Institute, Thomas joined the United States Air Force and honorably served during the Korean War. After his service, he worked as an installer for Western Electric, which later became Lucent Technologies. He retired in 1981, and then went back to work in 1984 for Cobb County, retiring finally in 2002. Thomas was an avid fisherman and won many tournaments. Most important to Thomas was his family. He was a loving husband, devoted father and adoring granddaddy. He had a large heart, always ready to be helpful and was never seen without a smile on his face. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frankie M. Bacon. Thomas leaves behind his wife of 14 years, Nora Yvonne Bacon, his daughters, Sherry Hart (Jack) and Janet Wells (Dennis), sons, Thomas Bacon (Cynthia) and Donald Bacon, 11 granddchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, plus 2 step-daughters, Sandy White (Kevin) and Debbie Jones (Craig), 2 step-sons, Ken McLendon (Dawn) and Mike McLendon, 8 step-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren and brother, William "Bill" Bacon. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 2:00pm at North East Piney Grove Baptist Church, 3277 Post Oak Tritt, Marietta, GA 30062. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Woodstock Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Thomas to either the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org, 3343 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30326 or North East Piney Grove Baptist Church, at any Renasant Bank.
