Thomas Edward Holihan

Thomas Edward "Tom" Holihan, 83, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026. Born on September 19, 1942, in Syracuse, New York, Tom was the son of Thomas Edward Holihan Sr. and Evelyn M. Muchard Holihan. He attended St. John Catholic Academy and Auburn Community College before proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force and National Guard.

Tom devoted 28 years of his career to GTE/Sylvania in Camillus, New York, where he worked as a property accountant before retiring. He and his beloved wife, Patricia A. Meyer Holihan, shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. Together they raised their family in Camillus, where they were active members of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. In retirement, they enjoyed living in Cleveland, New York, Kings Ridge in Clermont, Florida, and most recently Greensboro, Georgia.

Some of Tom's fondest childhood memories were the summers he spent with his brother, David, at the cottage of their Uncle Edgar—Monsignor Edgar Holihan—on the north shore of Oneida Lake in Constantia, New York.

Retirement brought Tom many friendships and happy memories. While he would modestly say he was not an avid golfer, he proudly achieved a hole-in-one on the 17th hole at Kings Ridge Golf Course while playing alongside his wife. Together they were affectionately known as "The Hooligans" in their golf club, The Hackers. Tom was also an active member of the Irish American Club at Kings Ridge, where he enjoyed sharing the unique history of Syracuse's famous Tipperary Hill traffic light, a story he loved telling to friends and neighbors.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Edward Holihan Sr. and Evelyn M. Holihan, and by his brother, David Edgar Holihan.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Patricia A. Holihan; his children: Karrie (Jay) Frey of Greensboro, Georgia; Mary (Matt) Burhans of Clinton Corners, New York; Robert (Ana) Holihan of Woodstock, Georgia; and Chris (Jeanine) Holihan of Marietta, Georgia. He was a proud grandfather to Paul Frey, Jessica (Thomas) Bush, Matthew (Rianne) Farley, Mickey Farley, Shannon Holihan, Thomas Holihan, and Katherine Holihan, and was blessed with one great-grandchild. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish his memory.

Tom will be remembered for his quiet sense of humor, unwavering devotion to his family, pride in his Irish heritage, and his ability to make lasting friendships wherever life took him. His love, wisdom, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on July 26th 2026 in Woodstock GA. This will be a private yet festive event limited to family and close friends, so please contact one of the kids for more information.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Cleveland NY.
