Val was one of a kind. My heart aches to only find out today that I lost my pen pal of over 40 years. She was a lady who made sure to live her life to the fullest! She always uplifted me and kept me pressing on and laughing until my face hurt. I’m crushed to hear this news, and very sorry for your loss. Heaven’s got a new Angel

The epitome of a true lady and a beautiful woman that was a delight to be around. She will certainly be missed.  Thoughts and prayers for the family to find ways to move forward with this loss.

I am in shock! I cannot believe beautiful, vibrant Val is gone. I traveled with Val many years ago to Bermuda and to Costa Rica and we had such a great time!  I live across the country now, in Oregon, and she and I only kept in touch with Christmas cards and birthday cards.  We never forgot one another’s birthdays.  I most recently received b-day wishes from her earlier this year - we mainly communicated thru cards - but she never let on even in late February that her health was failing, beyond the manageable issues some of us knew about.  She is gone way too soon and will be missed terribly by her mate, her family, her son and his family, and those who knew her and loved her.

My best friend at Central Gwinnett High School. I moved to Lawrenceville from Atlanta in 1962. Val and I became like sisters immediately.  I spent so much time at her house and she at mine.  Whenever I spent the night, we would serenade TW with the Marine Corp hymn. We would march into her den singing “From the Halls of Montezuma to the Shores of Tripoli……”. Somehow we knew all the words much to Terry’s aggravation.  We spent many an hour circling the Varsity in my mothers car, smoking all the way and back.  We just knew Mother would never know we were smoking, although she didn’t.  Duh…We even went to college together at NorthGA in Dahlonega.  She finished, sadly, I didn’t and we began to slowly lose contact.  She was finishing college and I had married and was starting a family.  Two different worlds.  We tried several times to reconnect but we just had too many differences and she had moved to Woodstock…..back in the day many miles away. Valerie, I have thought of you over the years. Wished you had come to the Class Reunions and other gatherings but evidently these were not part of your world now.  I loved you then and I love you now.  Valerie, I hope you are wrapped Jesus’s arms and I will see you again one day.  You remain a very special person in my life and I will dearly miss you.

Valerie was always beautiful inside and out!  Her smile was fabulous.  We were in Girl Scouts with her wonderful mother as our leader!  We would share a coke and crackers at school break because we were always broke!  We went on our high school graduation trip to the beach and it rained the entire time but we all still had fun.  She was our homecoming Queen and Miss Central and she was loved by her peers!  I send my sincere sympathy to her son and family, Terry, Frankie and families.  She will be greatly missed!

My husband and I met Valerie when we moved next door about 14 years ago. I became good friends with her after we started a daily walking routine joined by her beloved dog, Shadow. We’ve had many talks and good times over the years but best of all, many laughs. She could keep up with and many times top my husband’s dry wit. She was so beautiful inside and out and the best friend and neighbor we could ever wish for. I will miss her texts during the Atlanta Braves games and will think about her when I watch them. The last thing she gave me is a pillow that says, “Good friends are like stars, you can’t always see them but you know they are there”. Now, sweet Valerie, you are with the stars.

I knew Valerie since elementary school and we were majorettes and played basketball together in high school.  Valerie always lit up a room with her friendliness and her smile.  RIP.

I'm so grateful for the time I got to spend as her neighbor on Lake Forrest. Some of my best GA memories are with Val. Rest in peace sweet friend.

Valerie was a wonderful lady who brought so much joy in my dads life iam so glad I introduced them they hit if off great and shared so much together. She taught me so much about caring for me and loving myself and I will continue to do what she taught me. Valerie thank you for all you have done for me and making my dad so happy we will miss you so much and promise to take good care of Fella you will forever be missed until we see you again!😪

Valerie was beautiful, kind and fun loving. We became friends in the first grade. Many fond memories of Girl Scouts at the Green’s house. We were Troop 98 and Mrs. Green was our fearless leader. Valerie would light up the room with her smile and personality. Valerie you will be missed. So glad we shared a fun evening with just the two of us at Dick & Harry in Roswell.

Valerie and I were lifelong friends and our families go back years. She, Margaret Smith Tyrell and myself were a part of the original Atlanta All Star Majorette Corps. Margaret crowned me Miss Central Gwinnett HS in 1965 and I crowned Valerie in 1966. There are so many fun memories that I can’t begin to name them all. She was truly “Best All Aound” of our class and one of the Chicks of ‘66. My deepest sympathy to the entire Green family.

Valerie was a childhood friend. We went to school from 1st grade to graduation! I have lots of great memories, we were girl scouts and her mom was our leader! Val, you will be missed. Love you bunches, my friend.

Valerie was my friend and neighbor for many years.  Valerie, Terry, Frank, Debbie Green, Johnny Green, and Sanford Green...we all grew up together on Scenic Highway in Lawrenceville, GA along with my sisters Kathy and Tommie Ann.  There are no words to express how heartbroken we are about Valerie's death.  She was loved by everyone, always made me laugh and her parents, T.W. and Evelyn were so special to my family.  When we were children growing up, we couldn't believe that we had the same name.  I thought she had my name and Val thought I had her name.  We send our deepest sympathy and prayers to Ryan & Michelle, Valerie's grandsons and especially to Terry & Danette, Frank & Laura and the entire family. Valerie and I met when she was a probation officer with Cobb County Juvenile Court and I was a Foster Care Caseworker with Cobb County Department of Family and Children Services in 1974.  I supervised children in foster care who were involved with the Juvenile Court.  We became friends and this has lasted through the years.  I have many fond memories of the fun times we have shared.  I will miss her. My love and prayers go out to her family and friends.  Gloria Kee (aka Glo).  Love you Val!
