Aunt Ginny was like a sister to my Mom, Bernice, tho they were cousins. They looked like sisters. Ginny taught Mom how to make her Texas roast with orange barbeque  and my brother and I adored Hal and Ginny.  Very special Swedish relatives. I can just hear Mom say to Aunt Ginny when she arrived in heaven... Hey what took you so long!  They are with our Mor Mors, Ruth and Frida  and all of our Swedish families in the love and care as Children of the heavenly Father.  Var  sa  Gud.

Mama loved all of her grandchildren with all her heart. Due to distance and circumstance, mama was not able to personally meet her 2 great grandchildren. She always remembered them with sweet letters, cards and gifts. Great grandson, Jack, was born the same year our daddy went to Heaven. Jack happens to carry the same name as one of mama's 2 brothers and is the spitting image of my son, Winn. Winn was my parent's 1st grandchild and resembles early pictures of our daddy. Emma resembles  me, her Nana, and in turn, I was always told I looked just like Mama's mother when she was a child. Mama enjoyed a framed photograph of her mother with her aunts coming to America from Sweden. Mama also displayed handsome photographs of her brothers, Percy and Jack. So, the family resemblance and heritage is carried on in all the wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jack has started asking a lot of questions about Sweden's history.  Our mother and father would be pleased looking down on all of us as guardian angels.

Strength. She had strength beyond most people's comprehension. Dad loved her tiny, soft, beautiful and delicate hands. She remained a beauty throughout her entire life. She met every day dressed for action and to perfection.

I am surrounded with pictures of Mom from many different times of her life. In all of them, she is smiling.  We used to talk for hours on the phone and she could always make me laugh.  We shared a special relationship---from wisdom to poetry.  We got to visit many times over the computer.  She even got to meet my little dog, Perkins that way, and she always inquired about him.  When I lived in Houston, we used to go shopping at the mall and many times we went out to eat together.  I will miss her, but I know she is in a better place now.  With love always, Kathleen

Ginger came into my life about two years ago when I learned that she needed  someone to pick her up at Rock Creek Manor and take her to our church, King of Kings Lutheran Church in Jasper.
For the most part, I was able to do this,unless my job as a flight attendant interfered.  I truly enjoyed doing this, as she gave me so much inspiration just by her positive, cheerful attitude, her sincere appreciation for the littlest things,  her wonderful smile and twinkling blue eyes.
Since I lost my mother in 2010 at the age of almost 97, I told Ginger I was going to adopt her as my "Georgia"  mom!  
We had fun on the drive to and from church and I will miss her terribly. I know she is truly enjoying her life now, as she is reunited with her husband, whom she loved dearly, and is with Our Lord in heaven.

It isn't easy to say Good Bye, Mother, but so it must be.  I am her oldest daughter, and she (as I saw it) gifted me with six remarkable, beautiful Sisters when I was growing up. Thank you, Mom!  She taught me to read, to sing, and to keep on going when life got tough.  She taught me to find the beauty in people, and to share the love not just with the familiar, but with strangers as well.  Yes, I miss her.  But I am glad her passing was not harsh.  I like to think that Dad was there to greet her with open arms, and walk with her the rest of the way, so they could go to the Lord together.

So honored to have shared a wonderful friendship with Ginger.  We laughed, shopped, visited, took walks and enjoyed having coffee at her favorite Waffle House.  A remarkable individual with strength, courage and faith, who walked in the Light with her Heavenly Father. I will miss our special times and moments together but it is comforting to know she is with the Lord.  May her soul rest in peace until we meet again.

My heart is full as I have just been notified of Ginger's passing.  I cannot not be sad because I know implicitly of Ginger's faith.  She was the first person to become a member of Celebration of Grace when Mike and I started the new Mission.  Ginger was the first to hold Bible Study at her home while Hal was still alive.  Ginger was always ready to take part in all activities of the church but I think her favorite was singing with the Choir.  Ginger and my Mom were almost the same age.  She reminded me of my Mom and our family as she was short, beautiful white hair and the mother of 7.  My Mom had 6 and as we got to know each other we found that our lives had crossed many times.  Even our names were the same.  She and Hal lived across the street from Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church at Mygatts Corners in Racine WI about the time I was confirmed.  Hal taught at Park High School just before we attended and 
We think that Mike and Hal even had work connections while Hal was in Texas.  I have thought of Ginger so many times since we moved to Washington and I am grateful we have pictures of her.  Hal's funeral was one of mu first and I remember bringing communion to them with my grandchildren in tow.  They loved to be with Hal and Ginger and the donkeys were always a special treat.
Ginger will be remembered with great love and affection and I know that God has welcomed her home with open arms and the words, "Well done, my faithful and loving servant."  No more could be desired for any of us.

We have many fond memories of dear Ginger when we took her church at Celebration of Grace Lutheran iin Canton. She had a beautiful soprano voice and sang in the choir with me. She adored singing praises to God and was such an inspiration. She loved her family very much and told wonderful stories of her marriage and raising children. I cherish our visits and will always smile thinking of her. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family. God's peace to all.

So many fond memories! Like attending a class reunion,Princeton HS Class of 1942. Princeton, Illinois...and visiting Tampico.IL and my awaiting tombstone, near my large family's ....and visiting her and family at Lufkin, Texas...and walking the streets of Chicago,visiting her mom...and visits by Hal and Ginger at Victorville, CA...and so much more over the years. I have fond memories of Ginger walking her dogs down Arliss, and stopping to talk to Liz and I.  She always had great stories to share with us.  Thoughts of her always bring a big smile to my face.  Ed, Liz and I extend our deepest sympathies.

Our deepest sympathies to your family. We loved having Ginger worship with us over the last few years. It was such a blessing to pick her up at Rock Creek and take her to church on Sundays. We would sing hymns all the way to and from church, and her bright smile brightened our days. She was a very sweet lady and wonderful Christian - and as she often told us, she was a Lutheran!

Born in San Francisco to Swedish and Irish immigrant's, Virginia made her way to Chicago, Ill. Where she met and married her husband, Harold E. Wahlstrom in college.  Virginia and Harold had seven beautiful daughters and had a loving 57 year marriage.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1971 from Northern Illinois University, became a Registered Nurse in Texas in 1977.  Her favorite hobbies included reading, writing and singing.  Mom's greatest love was her family.  She is survived by seven daughters, 3 son in laws, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
