Willene was a true coal miner’s daughter. Her father, Sam Peeples, worked as a coal miner South of Birmingham, Alabama his whole life.
Willene spent her early years growing up in the town of Boothton (Booth-ton), Alabama. It was a true coal mining town where housing and general store was owned and controlled by the coal companies.
After graduating from Montevallo High School, Willene moved to Birmingham to gain employment with a coal shipping company.
Birmingham is where she met Tom Prichard and by the mid 1950’s they relocated to Smyrna, Georgia where Tom gained employment with Lockheed.
From the late 1950’s Willene has been a member of First United Methodist Church of Smyrna. She spent much of her time giving to the First Methodist Family. Children’s Education, Meals on Wheels, Craftsmen Hostess, Circle Groups, Hand Bell Choir and assistant with the church office, name only a few.
Willene not only gave to the Smyrna community, she was a standout giving to her family and relatives. Countless road trips to attend the need of Aunts, Sisters, and Parents. Giving to her 2 children, Jane and Greg, was nothing short of an obsession. When the Grandchildren arrived, Willene continued those road trips to assist us young parents with everything.
Willene was a compassionate giver to everyone she touched.
The Scripture, Proverbs 31: 25-31 defines Willene
Her price (value) to this physical life has been far above rubies.
Willene is survived by her daughter, Jane Vermilya and her husband Wright and her son, Greg Prichard and his wife Planett, grandchildren, Matt and wife Courtney, Kristina and husband Josh, Thomas, Andrew and Christopher, Great-grandchildren Alexis, Skyler, Annabell, Ashlyn and Charlotte.
