Dear Suzy (& Annie & Bill) - I write to send my most sincere condolences in light of Bill’s recent death.  All of our time together, of course, was back in the 70’s in Alexandria.  I have never met or known anyone who was so energetic and inspired and enthusiastic AND knowledgeable about all things having to do with live sound production.  He (and you) joined us during a time of exponential growth, as we were transitioning from churches and auditoriums into arenas, and needing to imagine and create and implement sound and lighting and stage production to match.  I don’t think we could have done it without Bill.  What an exciting time that was!  I’m so glad we all got to know each other, and to work together.  You learn so much about folks when you are on the road with them day after day. He was a ‘God-send’ to the organization, and for that I am thankful.  May Christ’s Peace comfort you all during this season of sadness and loss.  So many friends out here are thinking of you all and praying for you.  God bless.  Randy Moore

Bill and I met as teenagers at Roswell Street Baptist Church. We became close friends. I was forever changed. He became my mentor. Thanks to Bill I got to experience so many things I could have never done on my own. So many memories. I will never forget Bill. We were all blessed to have known him.

Bill was / is my best friend from the first time I met him in 1971 until our reunion in glory. I was invited into Bill and Susie’s home as friend and co-worker no matter where it was. My heart and prayers go out to the Thrashers. I can’t wait for the heavenly reunion.

I remember Bill thrasher from many years ago while installing Idlewild Baptist Church. We were all in attendance at the first service. I set next to Ms. Susie where I could see the expressions on Bill’s face as the choir cranked into a massive fanfare through the system he designed. He was awestruck!! I still remember lite tears from everyone around him at the success of his creation!! I will never forget reading his lips as he simply said…..WOW!!!! Today…..he continues to say WOW!!!

When people ask me how I am doing, my standard answer is "Marvelous". I learned that from Bill Thrasher. As a young man learning AV, I met a man (a legend as I later learned) that invested in me. He believed in me. He encouraged me. He guided me. He coached me. That man was Bill Thrasher. I have been allowed many opportunities in my life, a great number of which were introduced to me by this same man. Bill Thrasher. Only Heaven will reveal the breadth of the fingerprints of influence that this man left. Bill, I am so very thankful for the man you were as an example to me & thousands of others...we were given much by you...now much is required of us in your honor...Thank you dear friend.

A giant has departed.  I will miss Bill tremendously.  He was responsible for taking me, young sound man wannabe, and treating me like a professional and equal, and introducing me to the Billy Graham technical team.   I am grateful to have known and learned from this man about life and work.   The hope of the resurrection from the dead, because of Jesus Christ’s life, death, and bodily resurrection is what Bill loved and cherished. It is with great sadness for all of us, but with great joy for Bill that I write this. Bill Thrasher was a Christian gentleman, wonderful friend, and the best sound consultant you could have! We always enjoyed having him at First Baptist Columbia and we could call him anytime and get great and helpful information. As one person said, " If you were to take the top 10 sound men, Bill Thrasher would be 1 through 9." He was always knowledgeable and informed on the latest news in the tech world whether it be sound, lighting, projectors for screens, or any other church tech needs. We have missed him in these past 5 years as he has fought the earthly disease.   When he would come and visit to check out the sound system, we would always feel comfortable that all was well! To all the Thrasher family we send our prayers and love both personally and from First Baptist Columbia. There was only one Bill, and we shall certainly miss him! Don't you know he is having a great time mixing sound in heaven and hearing Mr. Graham, Cliff Barrows, and Bev Shea singing This Little Light of Mine. Though Bill's job was always "behind the scenes" just think of how many came to Christ because they were able to clearly hear the message. Derric Johnson reminds us that "faith cometh by hearing" and that is why Bill spent a lifetime making certain that the message was heard. Thank you, Bill, for making the glorious gospel to be heard by millions and doing so with grace, dignity, compassion, and love. It is about this time of year that Bill would make his annual visit. I wish that was happening, but the Lord had other plans and needed the sound in heaven to be at its best, so he brought Bill home to do it. Much love and prayers from Pam and me as well as all of your friends at First Baptist Columbia.

We have lost one of the greatest minds and hearts this week.I completely rejoice with Bill walking in Heaven and finding it home.My heart hurts for Suzy and the family. I am praying. I am here.
