

Yolanda was born in Guatemala to Manuel and Maria Cortez. She moved to New York from El Salvador in 1964, where she got a job as seamstress in Manhattan.
Yolanda was a very caring, brave, and giving woman. She opened her home to many throughout the years and was always known be there for anyone who needed a hand. Yolanda had a way with people and was very independent all throughout her life. Yolanda was an avid traveler and enjoyed many trips all over the world. She enjoyed sewing and worked as a seamstress throughout her life. She will be remembered most as being a devoted and loving mother to her three daughters.
Yolanda is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Maria Cortez; one brother, Roberto Cortez; and one sister, Elvia Cortez.
She survived to see five generations of her family.
Leaving behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Blanca Marin, Irma Garrand, and Hilda A Malca; her grandchildren, Chris Diaz, Ronny Diaz, Claudia Huix, Maria Bouchard, Alexandra Hurtado, Helena Benitez, Bill Hurtado, Susan Calhoun, Cindy Eversole, and Sid Garrand; many great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren; as well as many friends and extended family.
Yolanda will be greatly missed.
