Alison Marie Foose, age 53, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 9, 2026 at Bridge Hospice of Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay, Ohio. Born on January 22, 1973, lovingly known by “Al,” she spent most of her life in the Columbus, Ohio area pretty much being “Fab-Alous”. Her kindness was unmatched, and her ability to make others feel loved was one-of-a-kind. Al lived a life of joy, connection, and purpose that touched everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.
Al graduated from Westerville South High School in 1992. She spent decades in the workforce and held tremendous pride within each occupation she performed. Al took the most delight in getting her 20-year pin at USGS where she worked in the lab.
Al was an avid Special Olympian and spent decades competing in just about every sport possible. Al particularly enjoyed playing basketball for the Worthington Stars where she relished competing in the Battle of Worthington. Alison had a robust social schedule and participated in numerous groups and clubs. She kept busy with Bible Study, Book Club, Stamping Club and any opportunity to cheer on The Ohio State Buckeyes.
For many years Al diligently served as a self-advocate for the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio (DSACO) and enjoyed all the travel, fame and notoriety that came with it. Al’s passion was people- especially people with special needs, like her. She used her life and platform to advocate for others and wanted nothing more than to be included. She saw the good in everybody and was genuinely proud of those around her. Al loved life in a special way. On December 4, 2011 the Columbus Dispatch printed a news article about Down Syndrome, featuring Al. She was quoted as saying, “I see my life differently. I prefer to be me, not anybody else.”
Alison was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Robert and Louise Schecheter, and Jack and MaryJane (Wellbaum) Foose.
She is survived by her loving parents, Barbara Foose of Findlay, Ohio, and Michael (Audrey) Foose of Columbus, Ohio. She is also survived by her sisters, Amy Langdon of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Ashley (Jon) Davis of Arlington, Ohio.
Alison was a proud aunt to her nieces and nephews: Riley and Cameron Pocisk; Harper and Reagan Langdon; and Deuce, Keith, Colton, and Luke Davis.
She is further survived by her aunts, Jenny (Gary) Delaverson, Mary Jo Strauss (Hans Hoines), Gretchen LaForce, Anne Snow, Betty (Jim) Knight, and Pam (Harold) Gibbs; and her uncles, Matt (Diana) Foose, John Foose, and Paul (Liz) Schechter. She also leaves behind many cherished cousins: Carlo, Luca, Lexie, Lydia, Tyler, Trevor, Robin, Rebecca, Jonathan, Eric, Kevin, Michelle, Nicole, Kyle, Tyler, Matt, and Jeff.
She leaves behind many friends, including Stephanie, Jenny and Bryan, Aly, Kyle, and Allie, special people Allison and Becca, and her “Sweetie,” Carl Elder of more than 25 years.
The world was simply a better place with Alison in it. She will be deeply missed by everyone who had the joy of knowing her. Al always found the bright side of life and was truly a light to so many. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Al’s name to the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio (DSACO).
Friends of Alison are invited to come to Schoedinger Worthington Funeral Home, located at 6699 N. High St., Worthington, OH for a time of visitation from 2:00 - 4:00 pm on Saturday, May 16th
