

Betty Carroll Abram passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022, in her beloved home, with her family by her side. She was 93. Betty was born on August 23, 1929, in Columbus, Ohio to Ernest and Berttie Caldwell. She was the third of four Caldwell daughters. Betty attended West High School and graduated in 1947. After graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper for several years.
Betty married Duane Griffith “Dewey” Abram in July 1951. They spent 51 incredible years together. Early in their marriage, Betty was a first mate to Dewey in his sailing escapades. However, her purpose soon shifted, to being a devoted mother. She tirelessly supported her children, Kim and Kevin, through their life-long endeavors.
Betty also found time to volunteer in the emergency room at Riverside Hospital and work at The Bib and Tucker, a clothing store, in downtown Worthington. She took up tennis with a passion and later became quite a golfer. Betty also enjoyed spending her winters in Jupiter, Florida where she welcomed family and friends. She cherished her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She played a mean game of UNO and Canasta, made the best mashed potatoes and gave big hugs. In addition to her family, one of Betty’s greatest joys was her home. She helped design it, build it and meticulously maintain it. Her energy was limitless. Betty was a strong, independent woman. She had a keen sense of style and was a classy lady. She had an incredible work ethic and was an inspiration to all who knew her.
A family, graveside service was held at Union Cemetery on a sunny, November 9, 2022.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Steven) Trail; son, Kevin (Jill) Abram; grandchildren, Andrew (Jessica) and Samantha Trail, Aidan and Quinn Abram; great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Carson Trail; sister, Reta Sanders; several nieces and nephews; many dear friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane G. Abram; parents, Ernest and Berttie Caldwell; sisters, Nancy Robinson, and Ruth Wells.
