Bridget will be remembered for her witty humor, silent strength, faith, intelligence, and creativity. Her unique presence left an impression on everyone, including the thousands of school children she taught at Dublin Coffman High School for 40 years and Tunghai Junior High School in Taiwan.
Born in Shelby, Ohio in 1942, Bridget lived a life centered around family, friends, beloved pets, teaching, reading and writing, her Irish heritage and her Catholic faith. She was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University, holding both a bachelor’s and master’s degree, and was a passionate buckeye. O-H! She found immense joy in her crafting and creations - making mittens from rescued sweaters, camping and poking at a fire, delving into adventures that took her around the world, finding a good bargain, and challenging her intellect with crossword puzzles and Jeopardy. She loved the English language and one dared not misquote Shakespeare or use incorrect grammar in her presence. Following Thoreau’s philosophy, she lived her life deliberately.
While Bridget’s life was interrupted by Parkinson’s disease, it never stopped her from pursuing her passions. Her children are so grateful for the many family members, friends and amazing caregivers who helped her navigate health difficulties to live a comfortable and joyful life.
Bridget was preceded in death by her parents Howard “Pat” and Agnes (Stine) Finnegan, siblings Jane (Hubert) Metzger, Mary (John) Gaynor, Patrick “Rick” Finnegan, James “Jim” P. Finnegan, and her beloved husband Daniel R. Kuhns Sr. Bridget is survived by her children, Kristen (Patrick) Kuhns, D. Ross (Lisa) Kuhns Jr., Victoria (Nicholas) Backer, grandchildren Max and Meara Kuhns, Cyrus and Eden Backer, and numerous nieces and nephews.
