

She was born August 15, 1935 in Findlay, Ohio to T. Gerard and Edna (Huffman) Hetrick. Carol and her younger sister Jane Minard of Findlay who survives, are granddaughters of Civil War veteran David Huffman.
Carol was a 1953 graduate of Findlay High School. She attended Ohio State University earning an associate degree. She was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She returned to Findlay and worked for Marathon Oil Company for three years in various secretarial positions.
She married Don Kelley (deceased) in 1958. They divorced in 1975. Their 3 sons survive; Tom (Faye) Kelley, James (Leanne) Kelley and Dan (Kathe) Kelley. Carol married Jan Baker in 1983 who passed away in 1998. His daughter is Betsy (Rick) Nolan. Carol loved her seven grandchildren Brian, Kristin, Kate, Patrick, Andrew, Ryan and Kyle along with thirteen great grandchildren. She also adored her cats Daisy and Frisky.
After raising her three sons, Carol held several administrative assistant positions in both Robinson, Illinois and Columbus, Ohio. She retired in 1998 from Columbia Gas Transmission.
Carol enjoyed family vacations skiing in Colorado. Summertime found her spending many hours in her garden. All seasons were appropriate for her love of shopping. Carol was the ultimate bargain hunter.
In her retirement years Carol cruised to various parts of the world. She relished her book club, the neighborhood card club and the warm community of Hidden Cove where she lived for 25 years. She was an avid Buckeye fan and loved watching Cleveland Indian games.
Carol was an active member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her precious mother Edna who lived to 103 before passing away in 2010.
Despite the onset of Alzheimer’s in 2018, Carol maintained a positive, cheerful attitude throughout the last years of her life. Within her community she was a leader always looking to help her fellow residents. She was kind to all and a loving mother, wife and grandmother.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 5 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Chaplain Russ Tichenor at Schoedinger Funeral Home, 6699 N. High Street in Worthington. Reception to follow with light refreshments. Burial next to Jan will be at Knollcrest Cemetery in Arcadia, Ohio on Monday, April 7 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes to have donations made in Carol’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
