Carol A. Clapp, age 89, of Powell, Ohio passed away on March 11, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family. Carol was born on June 18, 1935, in Buffalo, New York to the late Quentin and Ann Marie (Ross) Palmer. She graduated from the Buffalo State Teacher’s College and had a rewarding career teaching school at the elementary level. In the summer of 1961, she traveled to Egypt to visit a childhood friend that worked at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, and met a young marine named Joe. They were married in November of 1961 and relocated to Ohio. Carol gave up her teaching career to raise her four children, but later returned to work as a floor manager at Macy’s. She retired in 1994. Carol was a long-time member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
Carol was a loving mother and devoted friend, and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest joy. She was also blessed to have a second family – her “Ladue” family – that she made cherished memories with for the past 47 years. Carol was an avid gardener, fantastic cook, and loved reading, puzzles and traveling.
Carol is survived by Joe – her husband of 63 years and the love of her life; children Kathy (Craig) Casdorph, Tony (Jamie) Clapp, Andrea (Bob) Prostko, and Ann Boyer; grandchildren Nick (Sarah) Casdorph, Steph (Kelsey) Casdorph, Emma (Ibou) Seye, Maria Clapp, Michael (Fiancé Madi) Prostko, and Emily Prostko; and great grandchildren Reagan, Brooklyn, Hallie, Parker, Aubrey, Nairobi and Atticus.
