

Chung-Kuo was born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1954. He was the second son of Mr. Tsu-Fang Chang and Ms. Fei-Ping Kung. He was praised for his bright intellect from a young age.
Chung-Kuo graduated from the top-ranked Electrical Engineering Department of National Taiwan University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree. To pursue his dream of advanced studies, he came to the U.S. and completed his Master’s degree and obtained a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin in 1987.
Chung-Kuo is very independent and capable of adapting to various environments throughout his life. After completing his Ph.D., he worked as a professor in the Computer Science Department at The Ohio State University. Since then, he spent most of his career at telecommunication companies. In the meantime, he maintained his interests in advanced research in Computer Science and established long-term relationships with several OSU faculty members.
Chung-Kuo enjoyed interacting with people, history, and reading and was a well of knowledge. He was charismatic, authentic, dedicated and was able to build deep and meaningful friendships.
Chung-Kuo passed away during his sleep on December 18, 2025. He was 71. He is survived by his wife, Meng-Chien Kuo, two children, Vivian and Jeffrey and four siblings. His brightness, charisma, friendliness, love of family and resilience will be remembered as part of his legacy.
A visitation will be held at Schoedinger Worthington, located at 6699 N High Street, Worthington, Ohio, 43085, on January 3, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The funeral service will follow from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
