Daniel George Kelley, 83, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on March 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on August 20, 1942, in Rochester, Pennsylvania, to Robert and Margaret Jean Kelley, he was the “other half” to his mirror twin Dennis Kelley and the older brother of Robert Kelley.
Dan was known for his steady presence and deep devotion to the people he loved. He enjoyed golfing, rooting for the Steelers and Buckeyes, and making sure ice cream was on hand - especially for a root beer float. One of his greatest joys was time spent with family.
He proudly served as a Military Police Officer in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War with the 504th Military Police Battalion from April 1964 to April 1966. During his service, Dan had the unique opportunity to escort American entertainers, including Bob Hope, an experience he often shared with pride. From 1976 to 1995, Dan served on the board at the NJCC pool, where he helped create lasting memories for a generation of swimmers, including his own sons. He later spent 33 years working as a senior merchant, building a career marked by dedication and integrity.
Above all, Dan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son. His family was his greatest pride, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and strength.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Donna Kelley; his three sons, Douglas (Mandy), Dean (Khrista), and Daniel “DJ” (Selene); his grandchildren Evan, Reece, Liam, Kirsten, Tiffany, Nora, Aoife, Cortney, Nolan, and Siobhan; and his brothers, Dennis (Judy) and Robert (Barbara). He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Margaret Jean.
