Diana L Halloran

Diana Lynn Halloran (née Dickson), 73, was a beloved mother, grandmother, teacher, traveler, and friend who lived with curiosity, determination, and a love for adventure. Known to family and friends as Diane, she made her home in Worthington, Ohio. Her faith was deeply important to her; she loved Jesus and trusted Him throughout her life.

Diane was a devoted daughter and sister. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Ralph and Martha (Loar) Dickson, and her brother, Todd Dickson. She is survived by her siblings, Michael (Jody) Dickson and Beth (Jim) Andres.

Diane married Lawrence Halloran, and together they raised three children, Jennifer (Sam) Costello, Mark (Kim) Halloran, and Joshua Halloran. Although they later divorced, they shared the important chapter of building their family together. Diane was also a cherished grandmother to Vance, Maximus, Charlotte, Mel, and Doc. Her family was one of the greatest sources of love and meaning in her life.

Some of the family’s favorite memories from the years when her children were growing up were made at Indian Lake, surrounded by extended family, boating, swimming, fishing, and grilling out.

Diane was a competitive swimmer growing up before attending The Ohio State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She later received her Master’s in Education and devoted 31 years to teaching, retiring as a beloved Family and Consumer Sciences teacher. She cared deeply about her students and found great joy in teaching.

For nearly the last decade of her life, Diane shared a special relationship with Ron Rybak. Together, they embraced life, travel, sports, music, and Bridge. Ron, an athlete and coach, introduced Diane to a new world of sports, and together they attended Ohio State football, basketball, and ice hockey games, including road football games in Minnesota and Indiana.

They traveled to Spain, Italy, Alaska, Puerto Rico, Niagara Falls, the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, and National Parks throughout the Southwest. Dorado Beach in Puerto Rico was one of Diane’s favorite places, and she and Ron returned often. They also traveled to national Bridge tournaments in Las Vegas, Chicago, and Toronto.

Bridge became a meaningful part of their life together. Diane and Ron recently earned their Life Master Awards, a wonderful accomplishment that reflected their shared dedication and love of the game. They also enjoyed music and attended concerts at the Ohio State Fair featuring artists including The Beach Boys, Joan Jett, Blues Traveler, Gin Blossoms, Fleetwood Mac, and Bruce Springsteen.

Diane loved experiencing life and rarely passed up an opportunity for something new. She will be remembered for her love of family, dedication to her students, adventurous spirit, and the many wonderful memories she created with those around her.

Diane loved Jesus, and we take great comfort in knowing that she is now with Him, enjoying her heavenly home.

A Celebration of Life will be held September 4 at 4:00 p.m. at Zion Christian Fellowship in Powell, Ohio. Family and friends are warmly invited to celebrate Diane’s life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mid-Ohio Food Collective in Diane’s memory.
