
Edward "Ed" B. Hatch Ill, age 97, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, in Westerville, Ohio. He was born on July 20, 1928, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to the late Edward B. Hatch Jr. and Caroline Tibbitts Hatch.
Ed spent his early years in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Louisville, Kentucky, and Columbus, Ohio. He attended THE Ohio State University, where he developed a lifelong devotion to the Buckeyes. He went on to have a long and successful career as a Mechanical Packaging Engineer for North American Rockwell, then transitioned to work in telecommunications companies in Columbus, Ohio, and Springfield, Virginia.
A proud and dedicated member of Shriners International for more than 75 years, Ed exemplified the values of service, integrity, and community that defined his life.
Ed was beloved by family and friends alike for his curiosity, patience, kindness, generosity, and thoughtfulness. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he could always be found cheering on his Buckeyes.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Wiley, and his beloved wife of 66 years, Cynthia Fabb Hatch, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and family.
Ed is survived by his children, Christopher Hatch (Sandra Brown), Jonathan Hatch (Pamela), and Julie Roth (Alan); grandchildren Rachel Hatch, Benjamin Hatch (Caitlin), Thomas Hatch, Andrew Roth (Quinn Berger), Daniel Roth (Jennette), and Ashley Holland (Erich); and great-grandchildren Taylor Holland, Tucker Holland, and Emma Roth.
He will be laid to rest beside Cynthia at Washington Cemetery in Washington Court House, Ohio.
