Eleanore was a proud graduate of Harbour High School in Ashtabula. A gifted musician and dedicated educator, her love for music began at the age of five. She pursued formal training at the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Conservatory of Music at Baldwin-Wallace College, later earning a B.S. in Education with a music major from Bowling Green State University, with piano as her primary instrument. She taught elementary and junior high vocal music in the Anthony Wayne school system in Whitehouse, Ohio, for two years before dedicating over fifty years to private instruction. She guided numerous students through the Guild and state solo and ensemble contests, with many earning college scholarships for piano study.
Eleanore served as the full-time organist at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ashtabula, Ohio, for thirty-five years. She was also a longtime member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Worthington. She was a dedicated accompanist for the choruses at Edgewood Senior High School, Braden Junior High School, and St. John's High School. She was also a Guild adjudicator for twenty-five years and served as the local chairperson for the NGPT for twenty-one years. Even in her later years, she maintained a small piano studio in Westerville, continuing to nurture the next generation of musicians.
Beyond her passion for music, Eleanore was an avid traveler, exploring all seven continents with her beloved husband, visiting countless cities and experiencing diverse cultures. Cruising was her favorite way to vacation, and she recently completed a 10-day cruise on March 10th with her family. She also enjoyed playing bridge, a game that brought her much joy and camaraderie over the years. She was a devoted swimmer and a connoisseur of life’s simple pleasures—Reese’s Cups for breakfast, fine chocolate, and an evening Manhattan. She was also an avid fan of her children's and grandchildren's sporting activities, cheering them on at every opportunity.
