Elizabeth “Betty” C. Ligon, 77, of Dublin Ohio, died on July 29, 2022. She was born in Gulfport, Mississippi on May 3, 1945. In July 1968, she married Harold J. Ligon; he predeceased her in 2014. Together they had two girls. She is survived by those children, Elizabeth “Beth” (Victor) Black, Jennifer “Jenny” (Ken) Grossman and grandchildren Ethan (Olivia) Black, Willem Black, Kyle Grossman and Nate Grossman.
Betty proudly served her county as a member of the US Navy early in her adult life. After marriage she moved to Ohio with J where they raised their family. She was a skilled office manager for several organizations including a typesetting company and the Chemistry department at University of Cincinnati, from which she retired. She was an avid quilter and sewer. She made many of her daughters’ clothes including prom and wedding dresses. Betty made personalized quilts for each family member for key milestones. During the pandemic she made masks for many. She was a devoted wife and mother to her two daughters and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in Betty’s honor on Sunday, August 28, 10:30 a.m. at The Church of the Good Samaritan Episcopal Church, 25 Amelia Olive Branch Rd., Amelia, Ohio 45102. In lieu of flowers, Betty’s family requests that donations be made to St. Joseph Home, 10722 Wyscarver Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio 45241.
