Faye was born on July 13, 1937, in North Canton, Ohio, to Esther (Smith) Boettler and Robert J. Boettler, Sr. She grew up in North Canton and graduated from Greensburg High School in 1955, where she especially enjoyed her years as a cheerleader. After high school, Faye began working for Mortgage Securities, where she met her future husband, James L. Hook. The two continued working together at National First Mortgage and were married on January 27, 1962, in Canton, Ohio.
Faye and Jim moved to Euclid, Ohio, in 1968, where they raised their three daughters. In 1983, they moved to Brecksville, Ohio. While living in Brecksville, Faye served as an elder at Independence Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Chippewa Garden Club. In 2001, Faye and Jim moved to Columbus, Ohio, and later made their home in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
Faye was a kind, loving, caring, and generous wife and mother. She was deeply devoted to her family and took great joy in supporting each person’s interests, passions, and dreams.
Faye loved decorating, especially for the holidays, and delighted in creating traditions and special moments for her family. Making and decorating holiday cookies together is just one of the many cherished memories her family will carry in their hearts. Family eagerly looked forward to summer vacations at the beach and at Lake Chautauqua, New York, where countless happy memories were made with Grandma and Grandpa. Her warmth extended far beyond her immediate family. She was friendly, welcoming, and accepting of everyone she met, always greeting others with a smile and a wave. Faye’s love and kindness touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Her gentle spirit, generosity, and devotion to her family will be deeply missed, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert J. Boettler, Jr., and David L. Boettler. She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, James L. Hook; her sister, Sandra Morrison (Michael); her daughters, Bethany Krakora (Kevin), Hillary Holman (Dana), and Jessica Hook (Jacquie Wojtowicz); her grandchildren, Matthew (Ashley), John, Katie, Charlie, Gillian, Drew, Gryphon, Jordyn, and Larkyn; and many other loving family members and friends.
She will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio.
