George William (Bill) Keigley, age 87 passed away on March 25,2025 in Dublin, Ohio. From his birth in Richwood, Ohio on November 30, 1937, to his death, he was a loving, caring, supportive, wonderful man, with a side of ornery, and a great smile.
Bill graduated from Marysville High School in 1955, where he met his future wife Carolyn Sue Reed, whom he married August 7, 1960.
Bill attended Ohio State University while starting his career at Battelle Memorial Institute where he worked for 50 years as a Master Technician in Gas Chromatography. He spoke often of how much he loved his job and enjoyed going to work, because every day was different.
For many years Bill played on the Battelle softball team and would discreetly scope out potential new hires to see if they were any good at softball, in order to stack the team. He also managed the Fantasy Baseball Team at Battelle, which is still in operation today, 45 years later. Bill also loved to hit the slots and when he couldn’t make it to Las Vegas, he headed to the local casino with anyone who would take him.
Bill also loved everything about Ohio State. For over ten years, Bill had season tickets to the OSU women’s basketball games that he attended with his daughters, granddaughter, and great grandchildren. In support of this love, we are asking everyone to come dressed in their favorite OSU gear for both the visitation and service. GO BUCKS!
He is preceded in death by his wife Carolyn, parents, George Keigley and Cora Juanita (Conrad) Stults, stepfather Orrie Stults, stepmother Margaret Keigley, sister Sherry Cornwell and brother Ronnie Keigley. He is survived by his sisters: Kathalee Brashares, Susie (Larry) Leeper, and brother Ken (Jeannie) Stults. The family would like to send a special thank you to Bill’s dear friend Mike Holdren, for being a steadfast friend through his Battelle career and for his numerous visits when Bill’s Alzheimer's began taking his memory. The stories he shared with the family are irreplaceable. Another special thank you goes out to the amazing group of individuals in Memory Care at Dublin Retirement Village that have cared for Bill over the last 2+ years. Your kindness and caring cannot be replaced. He was treated like family, and we will be forever grateful. Papa/Bill sends “winks” to you all.
