Geraldine M. Cain, 84, entered eternal rest in the company of angels on October 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born May 20, 1942, in Carnegie, Pennsylvania, she was the beloved daughter and only child of the late John J. and Sara (Korczyk) Belasky.
At the heart of Gerry's life was Bill, her beloved husband of more than 60 years. Their story began in sixth grade and blossomed into a lifetime of shared experiences, devotion, and cherished memories. Throughout their years together, Bill always celebrated special occasions with her favorite pink carnations and heartfelt notes simply signed “Forever Bill.”
Together, Gerry and Bill raised a family that became their greatest source of pride and joy. She is survived by four children and nine grandchildren: Dr. Tim (Blythe) and his children with Julie, Simon (Courtney) and Andy; Laurie (Tom Schneider) and daughter Anna; Dr. Sean (Renee) and children Ella, Ethan, and Kaitlyn; and Brian (Lacey) and children Sarah, Emily, and Brady. Gerry is also survived by sister-in-law Martha Cain and was preceded in death by Bill, brother-in-law Bob (Marilyn) Cain and lifelong friends Pete and Linda Giuliani.
Gerry grew up surrounded by a large extended Polish family. Watching her mother care for aging parents instilled a devotion to family that she carried forward when raising her children and later caring for her own parents. Gerry held fast to the family tradition of Sunday dinners, where everyone was always welcome. When daughter Laurie continued the tradition, Gerry always looked forward to attending, despite the challenges of her declining health.
She and Bill placed great value on education, making considerable sacrifices to ensure their children and grandchildren had opportunities to discover their potential, pursue their aspirations, and grow in faith.
Gerry’s Catholic faith remained a constant throughout her life, reflected in her cherished collection of angels that filled her home. Whether worn as jewelry, shared as gifts, or adorning the family Christmas tree, they offered gentle reminders of loved ones who had gone before, the comfort of their protection, and God’s enduring presence. For Gerry, angels were more than decorations. They were expressions of love, remembrance, and the comforting belief that those we hold dear are never truly far away.
Gerry will be remembered for her gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering devotion to family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
