Gregory grew up in Dayton, where his love for sports thrived. An accomplished athlete, he earned All-Ohio high school honors in baseball. He graduated from Meadowdale High School in 1965 and continued his education at the University of Dayton, where he excelled on the baseball diamond all four years. It was at the University of Dayton that he met his wife, Mary, and they were united in marriage in the chapel of Immaculate Conception.
Greg spent the majority of his professional life as a salesman for Motorola, Bender Communications, and B & C Communications, earning the respect of both colleagues and clients. His dedication to his work was matched only by his unwavering commitment to his family.
Above all, Greg was a devoted father and grandfather. He found immense joy not only in spending time on the golf course, but also in the stands, passionately cheering on his grandchildren in their sports endeavors, from soccer and football to baseball, basketball, swimming, and track. A lifelong golfer, Greg spent countless hours perfecting his game, and his love for the sport was something he shared deeply with his grandchildren.
Greg loved vacationing in Hilton Head, where they cherished spending time with family, playing cards and creating lasting memories in one of their favorite places.
In addition to his love for sports, Greg dedicated his time coaching his daughters, sharing his wisdom and encouragement as they grew up.
Greg will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 54 years, Mary (Storck) Eberenz; his two daughters, Michele Joubert (husband Dan) and their children, Beckett and Mason; and Leanne Chaput (husband Joe) and their children, Caroline, August, and Molly.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Schoedinger Worthington. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Greg’s memory to The American Heart Association or The American Diabetes Association.
