Greg Peters, age 72, of Reynoldsburg Ohio passed away January 30, 2022. He was a born-again believer, who loved participating in the praise band and any church activities he could. He is survived by his sweetie of nearly 50 years, Sherri Peters, and his children Rosalie (Matt) Fenner and James (Elke) Peters, and grandchildren Kendall and Austin Peters. He is also survived by his mother Barbara Peters, sisters Susan (Ken) Mossgrove and Terry (Terry) Weaver and brother, John (Susan) Peters. Preceding him in death was his father, Carl James Peters.
Born November 8, 1949, Greg spent his early childhood years in Milesburg, PA and then grew up in Morgantown WV. He attended college at West Virginia University (WVU), where he was a drummer/percussionist in the Pride of West Virginia University marching band. His passion for music led to joining a band that played in nightclubs on the weekends. It was there he met and married the love of his life, Sherri Donaldson. On June 4, he and Sherri would have celebrated 50 years of marriage. Together, they enjoyed taking many road trips, trying new restaurants, going to concerts and drum & bugle corps competitions, and watching their grandchildren play.
Greg never treated anyone as a stranger or was at a loss for words. He would strike up a conversation with anyone and would often be found bragging about his daughter, son and two grandchildren to anyone who would listen. He was known for his corny jokes, his love of NCIS and Johnny Carson, and anything WVU related. He was a true handyman - there wasn't anything he couldn't fix. He enjoyed traveling to Morgantown to spend time with his mother and driving around town to see what's new.
Family and friends can join a celebration of life that will be held in the spring.
In lieu of Flowers, please donate to the WVU Alumni band, St Ann's NICU, or Pelotonia cancer research.
