James Gregory Radde

James Gregory Radde, a devoted family man and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026, surrounded by the comforting presence of his beloved sons. Born on July 11, 1946, in Toledo, Ohio, Jim was a son of the late Karl and Esther Radde. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Heidi Wilsbach Radde, with whom he shared a joyful marriage beginning on May 6, 1978, in Columbus, Ohio. Also preceding him were his dear parents and uncle, Charles Stacy.

After graduating from Start High School, Jim was drafted to the United States Army from 1965 to 1967. He was honorably discharged as a Specialist 4th Class after spending eight months overseas during the Vietnam War. His service to his country was a source of pride for Jim throughout his life.

Jim later embarked on a dedicated career with the City of Columbus Department of Job and Family Services, where he earned the respect and friendship of many colleagues through his reliability and kindness.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, he was an avid sports fan, a devoted attendee of his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, and a lover of music who shared the joy of live concerts with his sons. His love for television and films, especially game shows, westerns, and horror movies, was well known among his family and friends. Jim had a knack for lightening the mood with a joke and was always a steady and calming presence.

Jim is survived by his devoted partner, Linda Jackson and a loving family, including his children, James Matthew Radde (Jennifer), Jeff Radde (Nicole), Scott Radde (Missy), and Damian Radde (Tarrah); his grandchildren, Jaid Radde, Jaxon Radde (Audrey), Eden Radde, Laken Radde, McKenzie Craig (Shane), Alexandria Radde, and Rozlynn Radde; and his great-grandchildren, Jonah Radde and Alaina Craig. He is also survived by his sister and dear friend Luan Harrison, brother Rick Radde, best friend Willie Fielding (Deb), and numerous nieces and nephews, including Jason Slowinski (Tiffany), Emily Watkins (Armon), Amanda Slowinski, RJ Radde (Stacey), Hollie Nortz (Matt), JJ and Mackenzie Laclair.

Jim’s life was enriched by simple pleasures, from sweet treats and Pepsi to the thrill of setting off fireworks, going to the casino, scratch-off lottery and Powerball tickets. He always said “you can’t win if you don’t play”

As we remember Jim, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to family and friends. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A visitation will be held at Schoedinger Worthington, 6699 N. High St., Worthington, OH 43085 on Sunday, October 4th, from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Please come dressed in your favorite sports team's apparel, per the family's request to honor Jim's appreciation of football.
