

JAN REED HOLLERN passed away on January 31, 2025. She was the eldest child of Susan Beckner Reed, a WAVE, and Marvin Reed, who fought valiantly in the Pacific Theatre in World War 2 as a member of the United State Army Air Forces. Jan was born on April 11, 1951 in Madison, West Virginia. The Reed family moved to Upper Arlington, Ohio in 1961. Jan graduated from Upper Arlington High School in 1969 and attended The Ohio State University. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business and rooted for the football team as a member of Block O.
Jan worked in the banking industry for many years as a Business Systems Analyst for Huntington, Fifth Third and Banc One / Chase. Jan’s mother, Susan, graduated with a degree in Home Economics and shared her knowledge of sewing and knitting with her daughters. Jan rekindled her love of the fiber arts after she left Chase and worked in The Yarn Shop in Upper Arlington for 15 years.
Jan married Terry Hollern at Saint James the Less church on September 11. 1982, They have lived in Sharon Woods for 42 years. Jan was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2021.
Jan's parents, Susan and Marvin, and her brother, Lewis, passed away before her. Carrying on her memory will be her husband, Terry, and her sisters Pam (Jim) Nye, Debbie (Barry) Jamieson, Margy (Terry) Wright, her sister-in-law, Maureen (Chuck) Meck, brother-in-law Larry (Ruth) Hollern, sister-in-law Kathi (Kim) Scovill, brother-in-law Paul (P. J. ) Hollern and brother-in-law Ken Hollern plus 17 nieces and nephews: Jimmy, Rebekah, Anna, Josh, Melinda, Amy, Thomas, Jack, Jeff, Claudia, Madeline, Amanda, Stephanie, Chelsea, Doug, Heather, Colleen, and 10 great nieces and great nephews: Drew, Westin, Nora, Ellis, Mae, Trip, Dean, Bryn, Jetson and Ace.
Family and friends will gather to remember Jan on Thursday, February 6 at Schoedinger Funeral Parlor located at 6699 N High Street, Worthington, OH 43085. Visitation hours will be 3 PM to 7 PM, a Rosary Service will be held at 3:30 PM. Deacon Dean Racine of Saint Josephine Bakhita Parish will lead a Reflection service at 5:15 PM. Jan will be interred at 10:00 AM on Friday February 7 at Resurrection Cemetery 9571 N High Street, Lewis Center, Ohio 43035. Lining up of cars will take place at 9:30 AM, at the funeral home and a procession to the cemetery will follow.
