Janey Davies

Born on July 8, 1938, in Zanesville, Ohio, Janey was the beloved daughter of the late Frank and Charlotte (Truesdell) Walker. She graduated from Miami University in 1960 with a degree in education and went on to share her love of language as an English teacher in the Worthington School System.

On June 25, 1966, Janey married Donald A. Davies. Their love was grounded in mutual respect, humor, affection, honor, shared purpose, and a belief that what mattered most in life were the people they loved and the experiences they shared along the way. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, friends, and service to their community.

Janey was deeply devoted to her family and took enormous joy in the people she loved. She was a proud mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, with a remarkably genuine gift for making the people around her feel welcome, included, and cared for. Frequently found out to lunch or hosting a dinner party at her beautifully set table, she loved bringing people together to celebrate life’s many occasions – big or small. Always dressed to the nines with her watermelon-pink manicured nails and elegantly styled hair, it was her smiling face that stood out most. Her calendar was full and her friendships were strong, but if you knew Janey, you knew her family was always at the center of her life.

To say that Janey was active would be an understatement. She gave generously of her time and talents to organizations and causes that mattered to her and her community. Christ Child and the epic Red Wagon events she organized, Childhood League, I Know I Can, Leadership Worthington, TWIG, Meals on Wheels, the Worthington PTA, and her service as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Joan of Arc were just a few of the many ways she gave back. She also loved her years selling Doncaster, taking great pleasure in helping women feel beautiful, confident, and well-dressed. And at the top of her list, Janey drove her children all over the tri-state area to countless sporting events and educational experiences, making sure they had every opportunity and tool they needed to become the happy and successful adults they are today.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and is survived by her children, Pete (Lisa), Jeff (Karen), Beth, and Jenny; and her seven grandchildren, Connor, Nicholas, Grant, Caroline, Will, Addie, and Jack. Janey was also a beloved guiding figure to her nieces and nephews and their partners, including Martha, Polly (Pat), Julie (Ron), Steve (Rob), Lynn (Jim). She was also preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Charlotte, and her brother, Richard.

More than anything, Janey will be remembered for the love she gave, the friendships she nurtured, the family she cherished, and the joyful enthusiasm with which she lived her life. Her absence will be deeply felt by the many people fortunate enough to have known and loved her. Yet the warmth she brought to every gathering, the connections she nurtured, and the example she set by living life fully will remain with us always. She was truly one of a kind.

Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Schoedinger Worthington, located at 6699 North High Street in Worthington, Ohio 43085. Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at St. Joan of Arc, located at 10700 Liberty Road in Powell, Ohio 43065. Immediately following the Mass, there will be a celebration of life at Worthington Hills Country Club from 2 to 4:30 p.m.
