

Emogene “Jean” Capparuccini, of Columbus, passed away on March 25, 2023 at home surrounded by family. Jean was born on December 15, 1927, In Prestonsburg, Kentucky to Anna Mae and Arthur “Red” Sturgill. As a young girl, she left her home in Prestonsburg to work in Columbus, Ohio. She was a supervisor for Ohio Bell for 17 years. She met Joseph Capparuccini during a night out with friends after work. They fell in love and were married on August 16, 1952 in Columbus and they had two beautiful children, John and Jo Anna.
Jean was a loving daughter, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. It cannot be overstated that family meant everything to her. She spent much of her life supporting her children and husband in all that they wanted to do. She adored her only grandchildren, Joseph and Madison. Whether it was sewing special outfits or attending sporting events, she was always there. She never missed a ladies night to play cards with her friends. Her strength, faith, love for family and ability to tell a good joke will always be remembered. Jean also helped to found the Guild Club and was a member of multiple women’s groups in Columbus.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, her four brothers, and her son, John Capparuccini.
Jean is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Joseph; her daughter Jo Anna (Dennis) Lyberger; grandchildren Joseph Lyberger (Hannah Latshaw) and Madison Lyberger (Andrew Little); nieces, nephews and extended family.
Family will receive friends from 4pm to 7pm on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Schoedinger Worthington, 6699 N. High Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1130am on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 893 Hamlet Street, Columbus, Ohio 43201 with entombment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne.
