Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Susie (Michalik) and Paul Yuhasz, and his sisters, Ann Doyle and Marianne Kramer. He leaves behind his loving wife of 66 years, Kathryn (Eileen) Yuhasz, his devoted daughter, Debra Yuhasz (Columbus) and many cherished nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. Sincere appreciation is extended to his niece, Amy Buckley, for her assistance during Joe's recent health struggles.
Joe spent much of his youth in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from Holy Rosary High School. In his younger years, Joe excelled in every sport he played, especially football. That passion stayed with him throughout his life, and he remained a devoted sports fan particularly of Ohio teams.
As a young man, he moved to Dayton, Ohio, where he attended the University of Dayton before deciding to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy. Joe concluded a 36-year career at Rockwell International with his retirement in 1988.
Outside of work, Joe found his greatest joy in simpler things-especially his garden. He loved planting seeds, nurturing growth, and patiently watching his prized garden of tomatoes unfold. Joe was also a natural builder and thinker, always curious, always searching for a better way to do things.
A man of faith, Joe was a devoted and longtime member of St. James the Less Catholic Church. For several years he quietly gave his time as a volunteer at the Villa Angela Senior Center.
Joe will be remembered for his gentle and quiet presence, his love for his family, his love of all nature, and his soft heart.
The family wants to thank treasured caregivers, Kalise Taylor and Latonia Curtis, whose unwavering kindness, compassion, and support over the last two years allowed Joe to remain in the comfort of his home. An additional thank you to Kalise for sharing her therapy dogs Bee, who was a devoted loving couch companion to Joe, and Bailey, who brought energy and entertainment to the household.
A private burial will take place, with a celebration of life to be determined.
