Judith K. Mayhew, 86, died Monday July 27, 2026 at Wesley Glen. Judy is proceeded in death by her beloved husband Richard (Dick) D. Mayhew. She is survived by her daughter Heidi (Hellstrom), son-in-law, Alex Hellstrom, grandchildren, Abby and Ethan, numerous loved ones in her extended Mayhew and Hawthorne families, and innumerable friends.
She worked in numerous administrative positions, capping off her career as the assistant to the treasurer for the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed her work for the church so much, after retirement, she snuck back in to serve a few extra years at the conference offices. She was a warm presence, knowledgeable, and caring in her work to provide services for pastors and their families.
When not working, Judy served as a dedicated volunteer at her church in music, administration, and the Stephen Ministries, as well as serving many a soup kitchen and mentoring youth and developing deep, loving relationships with them as they grew into adulthood. She and Dick also served their local community helping fellow condo residents with home repairs, and ready, warm friendship.
Judy also loved being a wife to Dick, a mother to Heidi, and a Nana to her grandkids, taking the jobs very seriously—until it was time to be silly. She excelled at that too.
A great listener, a bright smile, a ready heart: Judy will be missed by many, and her memory will live on through the love she has willingly shown others.
Funeral services will be held Friday July 31, 2026 at Worthington United Methodist Church, 600 High Street, Worthington.
