Kent Thomas Sears

He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

Kent was born in Dayton, Ohio, on September 20, 1946, to Vernon and Mary Ellen (Spencer) Sears. He graduated from Beavercreek High School in 1964 and attended The Ohio State University graduating from Marywood University, Magna Cum Laude.

He had a commanding forty-two year career with General Motors where he retired as a Vice President and General Manager in 2006. Upon retirement he moved to his beloved Sanibel Island where he resided until 2010 returning to Ohio to be closer to family.

Kent served on the Kinzie Island HOA Board of Directors and was President of the Sage Creek Homeowner’s Association for numerous years. His hobbies included woodworking, golf, tennis, fishing and boating.

He leaves behind his devoted wife Julie; treasured children Julie Eklund (grandchildren - Savannah and Sierra) of Shelby Township, MI; Dustin (Bethany) Sears (grandchildren - Mason and Carter) of Lewis Center, OH; Erin (Aaron) Kemsuzian of Metamora, MI; mother Mary Ellen Thomas of Granville, OH; brother Larry (Nancy) Sears of Maineville, OH; sister Sharon Bundrock of Phoenix, AZ and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father.

His brilliance, kindness and larger than life presence will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. A private remembrance service will be held at a later date after cremation has taken place.
