Larry G. Marcum

Born in Hardy, Kentucky, Larry later settled in Columbus, Ohio, where he met and married the love of his life, Dorothy Marcum. Together, they shared 54 years of marriage, raising a close-knit family that includes two children, six grandchildren, and a great-grandchild on the way.

A proud U.S. Army Veteran, Larry served during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he worked as a truck driver for Quikrete before becoming an independent driver, retiring in 2010.

Larry had a warm and generous spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He loved boating with friends and family, attending his grandchildren’s activities, and spending quality time with those he cherished. A man of faith and strong family values, Larry found his greatest joy in his role as “Papa” to his grandbabies.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Marcum and Betty Ann Marcum Sowers, his sister-in-law Joyce Marcum, and his brother-in-law Walt Boozer.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Marcum; his children, Ralph (Melissa) Marcum and Lisa (Mark) Geeding; his grandchildren: Morgann (Layken) Purdy, Ashley Mathews, Mason Cobler, Brendan Geeding, Riley Geeding and Carolee Marcum; his sisters Carolyn “Sue” (Jerry) Bevins and Claudia Boozer; his brothers: David Marcum, Robert “Robbie” (Diane) Marcum, Eddy Marcum, Michael Marcum, Clyde “JR” Marcum, and Tommy Marcum; plus many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Larry’s life was one of love, service, and joy. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

“His Lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.’” Matthew 25:23

The family will receive friends from 4pm to 7pm on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Schoedinger Worthington, 6699 N High Street.
