Lori was born in Springfield, Ohio, and raised on Shuler’s doughnuts and love. She excelled in everything sport and academic, graduating from Shawnee High School in 1994. She continued her track record of success at The Ohio State University--where she studied Financial Management.
Lori began her career as a financial planner, but her considerable skills steered her toward the insurance industry. She worked at Nationwide for 19 years, constantly sought-after for her knowledge and ability to lead. Most recently, she served as the Director of External Relations for the Ohio Department of Insurance, which truly capitalized on her incredible expertise and was an appropriate capstone for her career.
Though she was a force in the insurance world, her heart and soul were foremost with her family. She created beautiful homes for her family; decorating with an eye to how her home could provide a place of solace, refuge, and comfort to all who lived there or even just visited. Her thoughtful attention to the smallest of details make her home a true haven. To sit down to one of her amazing meals was a privilege and delight. She was an amazing host—even entertaining through her illness.
Lori and John married in 2000, and together she and John made a beautiful family with their three girls, Emily, Kate, and Lauren. Lori was a phenomenal mother, always coming up with fun ways to make her girls’ childhoods magical. Her girls are shining examples of her faith and love.
Despite her own suffering, Lori always put others first. One of her greatest gifts was her ability to make everyone feel important and loved. Her singular ability to listen made people flock to her—adults and children, alike. Her laugh was easy and infectious. Her intelligence and wit were razor-sharp, and conversation with her was always revealing and so much fun.
Lori’s faith was the compass by which she navigated the world, and she never erred from her path. Her journey on earth was too short, but she walked by faith and the light of the One who called her home.
She is survived by her husband John and their daughters- Emily, Kate, and Lauren. She also leaves behind countless friends and associates for whom the world will never be the same.
