Margaret Ann Gweyn (Rainey) Gilkerson, lovingly known as Margy, was born on March 18, 1949, at Beaver Valley Hospital in Martin, Kentucky, to Audrey Newsome and Lee Roy Rainey. Her family moved from Eastern Kentucky to Ohio when she was just two years old, but her Kentucky heritage remained an important part of who she was.
Margy passed away on October 28, 2026, at the age of 77, leaving behind a loving family and many friends whose lives she touched.
On September 14, 1968, Margy married Jack in Columbus, Ohio. Together they shared 58 years of marriage, building a life centered on love, family, faith, and countless memories.
Margy was a devoted mother to their three children: Matt Gilkerson, Leah Breakey, and Katrina Beattie. Her family was always at the center of her life, and she took great joy in watching her children and grandchildren grow, participate, and succeed.
A homemaker since June 1970, Margy devoted much of her life to caring for her family and creating a home filled with love.
Margy had a competitive spirit and enjoyed a good challenge. Whether playing golf, bowling, pickleball, or participating in card games such as Euchre and Wizard, she loved the opportunity to compete and have fun. But what she enjoyed even more was watching her children and grandchildren participate in their own activities. She loved attending their ball games, dance recitals, and band performances, and she was always their biggest cheerleader.
Margy and Jack enjoyed traveling and exploring many places together. Of all the places they visited, Hilton Head held a special place in her heart, particularly the memories made there with her children and grandchildren.
Her Faith
Margy loved the Lord. Her faith was an important part of her life. She genuinely cared about others, and she cared deeply.
She was a member of Genoa Baptist Church in Westerville, Ohio. She also cherished her small group Bible study and the fellowship she shared with all the members of that group. The friendships, encouragement, and spiritual connections she found there were very special to her.

Margy is survived by her husband, Jack; her three children, Matt (Jody), Leah (Kevin), and Katrina (Chris); and her seven grandchildren, listed in birth order:
