

Mary L. Layton, age 94, has gone to her heavenly home. She passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026 in Columbus, OH. Born on November 2, 1931, in Sandusky, OH, Mary lived a full and meaningful life centered around family, faith, and community.
Mary was a graduate of Sandusky High School and spent her career working as a secretary in the automotive industry. She was known for her strong work ethic and dedication, but even more so for her warm personality and the relationships she built throughout her life.
A woman of deep faith, Mary was an active member of St. Stephen UCC in Sandusky and an active member in Eastern Star. She found joy in simple pleasures like playing cards with her friends and loved living right on Sandusky Bay. She was known for her sweetness and kindness to everyone.
She was preceded in death by husband, Robert Moran; husband, Lee Layton; her parents George & Burnetta Barrington.
Mary is survived by her loving daughters, Debbie Boxerbaum and Catherine Butt (Craig); her cherished grandchildren Justin Bingle (Miranda), Kevin Bingle, Sean Butt (Morgan) and Laura Binkley (Tad); and her great-grandchildren Kellen Bingle, Samantha Bingle, and Roman Binkley, who brought her immense pride and joy. She is also survived by her brother, William Barrington (Cathy), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, including her special friends Sharon Barton and Lisa Way.
Mary will be remembered most for her sweetness, her kindness to everyone she met, and the love she shared so freely. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A visitation will take place at St. Stephen UCC in Sandusky on April 11, 2026 from 12:00 – 1:00PM in the chapel where family members will gather to honor Mary and celebrate her life, followed by a brief graveside service at 1:30PM at Meadow Green Cemetery (2602 Bogart Rd, Huron, OH 44839).
