Michael Joseph Mahle, 84, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, at Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio, just a few days shy of his 85th birthday. He was born on August 31, 1940, to John and Zita Mahle in Zanesville, Ohio. Mike attended Miami University of Ohio and, after graduating, became an officer in the United States Navy. Following his Navy service, Mike built a successful career as a Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch, where he worked until he happily retired over twenty years ago.
Mike was an avid golfer and once served as President of Worthington Hills Country Club, where he also won the President’s Cup golf championship. Although he was a successful businessman, veteran, and golfer with more holes-in-one than he could count, his greatest joy came from his family and his wide network of friends. Mike is preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Mahle, his wife of over 50 years; his parents; and his brother, Jack. He is survived by his son, Michael J. Mahle II (Jennifer), his twin grandsons, Joseph and Gregory Mahle of Morton, Illinois, and his brother, Ed Mahle.
Mike Mahle never knew a stranger and was always ready with a friendly smile and welcoming chat. Mike will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held in Columbus, Ohio, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kobacker House. We extend our gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and social workers who provided care and comfort to Mike and his family in his final days. For those who knew Mike, the best way to honor him would be to play a round of golf or two with friends and remember the remarkable life he lived.
