

Nelson William (Bill) Hensel, 91, passed away at his home on Sunday, December 10. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, and could deliver a punch line like no other; he kept his family and friends laughing until his final days. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Bricker Hensel, infant daughter, parents Regina and Nelson Hensel, brother John Hensel and several sister and brother-in-laws. He will be greatly missed by his seven children Monika (J. Kelly) Brown, Alicia Hensel, Cecilia Hensel, Stuart Hensel, Susan (Jim) Harrison, Megan (Tony) Muhlenkamp, Constance (Brian) Begue, three grandchildren Alexandra Brown McCoy (Tyler), Reese and Max Muhlenkamp and two great grandsons, Rhodes William and Shepherd McCoy. He is also survived by his siblings Ann Grossmeyer, Ted Hensel, Judy (Emil) Klein, Janet (Ed) Page and Susan Debevec, sister-in-law and brother-in-law John David and Mary Ann Bricker, sister-in-law Shirley Bricker, sister-in-law Jan Bricker Cronin and many nieces, nephews, family and friends, especially his dear friends at Gables of Westerville. Bill was a life-long resident of Columbus, born in German Village he graduated from St. Mary’s High School, attended The Ohio State University and spent most of his career as a lumber broker, developing many decades’ long relationships with customers and suppliers throughout the Southeast. Family will receive friends from 4:00pm – 6:00pm on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 6699 N High Street. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, December 15 at St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church, 313 North State Street, Westerville, Ohio, with burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Care360 Hospice.
