It is with heavy heart that we share the passing of Pasquale “Pat” Marcel Hughes, our beloved husband, son, father, grandfather and friend, who died on Monday, July 13, 2026. Pat was a man who built a life full of faith, family and service.
Pat was born on December 12, 1964 in Orlando, Florida and became a fifth generation cattle farmer. He attended Lynchburg Christian Academy in Lynchburg, Virginia and played football (#35) for Liberty University. He was a lieutenant with the Orlando fire department for 25 years where he served on the Florida Urban Search and Rescue team. Pat would say he didn’t have a career because being a firefighter was his passion, not a job. He served as Central Florida Fair Steer Superintendent and a national Santa Getrudis board member. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a lover of airboats, jeeps, and anything outdoors and adventurous. Pat was a man of many talents and skills. He could fix anything, build anything and overcome any problem that came his way with the saying “ain’t no hill for a climber.”
Pat loved life and lived large. He had a heart that loved anyone who loved him back. Anyone who knew Pat knew that he would literally give you the shirt off his back.
Pat’s love of life was surpassed only by his love of family. He was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather. He adored his mother, brother, three daughters and was proud to be a grandfather. Later in life, Pat met the love of his life and together they built a hundred acre farm in the Wayne National Forest in southeastern Ohio where the children and grandchildren could gather and celebrate.
Pat is survived by his devoted wife, Angela Hughes, his mother Gwen Hughes, his brother Sam Hughes, his three daughters, Allyson (Tom) Sasinowski, Emily (Matthew) Patterson, Natalie Hughes, his three stepchildren Andres (Emily) Legarreta, Natalia (Ryan) Koenig, Nicolas Legarreta, and his four adored grandchildren Willow, Quinn, Kit and Jack. Preceding Pat in death is his father, Rick Hughes.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tunnel for Towers Foundation at T2T.org that helps support America’s heroes. Pat was a hero to us all.
